Child Safety

Child Safety

To help ensure the safety of all children in every home and public facility, Blinds 2000 Manufacturing works with the government of Canada so our products meet or exceed the new standards of Health Canada. Blinds 2000 follows child safe Corded Window Covering Regulations, which place restrictions on the formation of cord loops and require warning labels. We follow the 2009 manufacturing regulations for corded window coverings, including:

  • Required stop mechanisms to prevent possible accidental strangulation
  • Safety mechanisms for all blinds with a bead chain, cord or looped device
  • Pull cords that separate on the application of force
  • Cord-stop mechanisms on inner loops
  • Cords held tight & secured to an adjacent surface

Also ask the professionals of Blinds 2000 how we work to protect your infant or young child with our own custom manufacturing of secure, high-quality window coverings with features that include:

  • Cordless blinds
  • Child safe wand control systems
  • Motorized & bottom lift shades
  • Retractable & hidden lift cords

Child Safety Tips for Older Blinds

Pre-2009 window coverings that were not required to meet the new regulations may still pose a risk to your young child or baby. For enhanced safety, replace your old blinds with new cordless models. In the meantime, Healthy Canadians offers safety tips to help keep your child from being entangled in blind cords:

  • Place cribs, beds or furniture children can climb away from windows
  • Tie blind & curtain cords high up with cleat kits
  • Cut the cords short & high
  • Cut the cords’ loops in half
